Hi everyone! My name is Matthew Hogan, and I’m excited to serve as the Head Swim Coach this summer. I grew up right here in Charlotte and swam locally for the Thornhill and Raeburn swim teams from elementary school through high school.
I bring over 20 years of coaching experience across the Charlotte area and currently work as the Assistant Swim Coach at Ballantyne Ridge High School and a Senior Swim Instructor at MSA – Tom Short.
My coaching philosophy is simple: anyone can swim. I’m passionate about helping swimmers of all levels build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a lifelong love for the water. I’m incredibly excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to share my enthusiasm for swimming while helping every swimmer grow, succeed, and—most importantly—have a lot of fun in the pool!
Hi! My name is Swarnim Maid, and I’m so excited to be coaching again this year! I’m currently a student at the University of South Carolina and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School, where I was a varsity swimmer and team captain. I swam with the Waves from my very first year as a Shrimper all the way through graduation, and also swam club at MSA. I have over five years of coaching experience, including five seasons with the Waves, so it’s really exciting to be back.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, getting back on deck, and having a fun summer!
Hi, I’m Jake Zhou. I’m a competitive swimmer with over 11 years of experience in the sport and was the captain of Ardrey Kell High School. I was born and raised in Charlotte and have been involved in swimming both year-round and at the summer league level for most of my life. Outside of the pool, I enjoy staying active, traveling, and spending time with friends. Swimming has been a big part of my life, and I enjoy being around the team environment and helping out where I can.
